In 1968 the new terminal of de Nicosia International Airport was open.

It was built following the latest trends of the moment and its coffee shop soon became a meeting place for Cypriots.

When it was bombed by Turkish forces, the Cypriots defended the invasion, preventing it  from falling into enemy hands.

 

After peace agreements, the airport was deserted in the buffer zone

 

The International Airport of the island, is now in Larnaka city.
